Bop Indoor Rowing Championships

Rotorua Rowing Club took overall 2^nd and 3^rd place on points at the 2013 Bay of Plenty Indoor Rowing Championships held at Western Heights High School on Sunday 25^th August.

The participants included Bay Performance Centre, Tauranga Rowing Club, Tauranga Boys College, Rotorua Girls high School, Western Heights High School, Rotorua Boys High School, Rotorua Lakes High School,  John Paul College, Rotorua Rowing Club, Otumoetai Rowing Club,  Bay Coast Rowing Club.

Rotorua’s Natalie Hill, who rows with the Bay Performance Centre,  won two Gold medals in the 1000m and 2000m Women’s Open category and Rotorua schools won a combined 10 Gold medals ( WHHS: 4, JPC : 4, RLHS: 2  ).

Connor Broughton(JPC) won the 2000m and the 1000m Boys Under 17 events.

Sofia Morrell (WHHS) won the Under 17 Girls 1000m and Under 15 Girls 2000m ..

Cassidy Wenmoth (RLHS)won the 2000m Under 19 Lightweight Women’s event.

Alie Henderson- Corporaal (WHHS) won the 2000m Girls Under 17 event.

Julliet Fordyce (JPC) won a gold in the 500m and the 1000m Girls Under 15 Non- Rower category. 

Ariana Lee(WHHS)  won the 1000m Girls Under 17 Non- rower event.

Samantha Matthews(RLHS)  won the 500m Girls under 17 Non –Rower event.

Rotorua schools won 15 Silver medals ( WHHS: 8,  JPC :4, RGHS: 3 ) and 6 Bronze medals (RLHS :4, WHHS:1, JPC:1)

In addition Rotorua Master rower Pam Dickson won a silver medal in the 500m Women’s Masters and Rotorua Rowing Club’s Matthew Cooper won two Bronze medals in the 1000m and 2000m Open Men’s.
