U23 WORLD ROWING CHAMPS  UPDATE

PHOTO Brest Fortress Memorial… one of the most important Soviet World War II war monuments commemorating the Soviet resistance against the German invasion on June 22, 1941

Hey there!

This has definitely been a great experience so far in Belarus. We started racing today, we won our race so now we are in the semi final which is on Saturday. It was a good race to have a blow out and get use to racing in 38 plus degrees. We had the fastest qualifying time so we are happy with that. We have the day off tomorrow so we are going to rest up well for our semi final. The weather here has been quite windy and still hot. Today we had a thunder and lightening storm so racing was cancelled, lucky we had already raced. The weather is predicted to be bad for the weekend.

My doubles partner and I have already made the local paper in Belarus so we are stoked! There is a big cheesy picture of us pulling the thumbs up to the camera! We are having a lot of fun over here and taking in as much as we can. I have learnt so much already about international racing! You can watch the racing on "worldrowing.com". There is no video footage but you can watch the NZ flag along side of other countries in the world tick down the lanes.

The NZ team is doing really well at the moment, we hope the weather holds out for us for the rest of our races.

Cheers Julia
