A must read for rowing parents.

PHOTO; TRAINING WITH COACH LIZ HARTE, LAKE ROTORUA 29.5.2010

The coach called to one of the rowers  Do you understand what cooperation is?  What a team is? The rower saidyes. Do you understand that what matters is whether we work together as a crew? The rower nodded yes. “So,” the coach continued, ”I'm sure you know, when a restart is called, you shouldn't argue,  attack the starter, or call him a pecker-head.  Do you understand all that?” The rower nodded again. The coach continued, “And when I take you out of the boat during seat racing trials, it's not good sportsmanship to call your coach 'a dumb ass' is it?”  Again, the rower nodded. “Good,” said the coach.”Now go over there and explain all that to your grandmother.”
