Bulldogs Retain Olympic Axe

In the second dual of the spring, Yale’s heavyweight crews won their four events over Dartmouth. The Yale varsity eight won by 2.2 seconds on a windy morning to ensure that the Olympic Axe stay at Gilder Boathouse for another year.  The Big Green's rookies novice eight finished in 5:45.5 behind Yale in 5:43.1. Dartmouth hit an early snag in the race, coming to a complete stop about 1:24 in, which sent the boats back to the starting line (a crew stopping in the first 1:30 of any race forces a restart).
