Rotorua rowers bag a dozen medals

Our senior Rotorua Rowing Club Reps were a force to be reckoned with, over the weekend at the North Island Rowing Champs; winning 1 Gold medals, 6 Silver and  5 Bronze.Julia Edward won Gold in the Premier Women’s Lightweight single Scull and Silver in the Premier Women’s Double Sculls .

Laura Fischer, rowing for Rotorua and the Waikato Regional Performance Centre(WRPC) gained silver in the Premier Women’s Four and a none too shabby 5^th in the Premier Women’s Double Sculls .

Claudia Hyde (Rotorua, WRPC) followed in Laura’s wake to win Bronze in the Premier Women’s Four and then took Silver in the Open Women’s eight, a Silver in the U21 Double Sculls, a Bronze in the U21 Women’s Single Scull, coming away with four medals in total.

Jeff Francis (Rotorua, WRPC) gained silver in the U21 Men’s Single Scull and was in the right company,with a 4^th in the Premier Men’s Quad Sculls and a 5^th in the Premier Men’s Four.

Rotorua Rowing Club Coach, Chris Pearson’s young crew; Olivia Ashby (stroke) and Natalie Hill placed third,with a Bronze medal in the Women’s U19 Double Sculls .

Nigel Van Den Akker (rowing Rotorua and BAY Coast Academy),won Silver in the Men’s Senior Quad and Bronze in the Men’s Senior Double Scull.
