Rotorua Rowing Club

Rotorua making plenty of water…

The young rowers in the Rotorua Rowing Club took it to the other crews, recently at the Karapiro Club regatta.

The girls in the U18 Coxed Quad Sculls (pictured above) of Delaney Phillips (cox ;John Paul College ) Grace Eriksen (John Paul College ) , Stacey Tamblin (Western Heights High School), Natalie Hill , Olivia Ashby (stroke) , coached by Chris pearson, made plenty of ground, or should that be water, placing third .

Natalie Hill also placed third , for JPC in the Girls U18 Single and third for JPC, in Girls U18 Double Sculls, partnered with Annalise Wilson Both crews coached by Glen Reichardt.

Olivia Ashby (John Paul College ) and Stacey Tamblin (Western Heights High School) while working well together, were punching well above their weights, in the Girls U18 Coxed Quad Sculls. When they came down the course in opposing crews, for the Girls U16 Double Sculls, the battle of the schools was continued from last season, with JPC’s Olivia Ashby (stroke) and partner Grace Eriksen winning and WHHS’s Stacey Tamblin (stroke) with her partner Hannah Cox, placing second. Both these young crews are coached by Chris Pearson .

Stacey Tamblin went on to ‘stroke’ her WHHS’s Girls U16 Coxed Quad Sculls to third, with her crew; Emma Cronshaw-Hunt, Hannah Cox, Alice West and cox- Keely Gauge (Coached by Chris Pearson)

The boys were well represented, with Bradley Grant (stroke; Rotorua Lakes High School) | Mania Oxenham (Rotorua Boys High School) placing third in the Boys U18 Double Sculls (coached by Alastair Riddle).

The novice Rotorua boys have made huge advances and the two novice coxes had a successful day. Keely Gauge; of Western Heights High School, led the WHHS Quad crew of Conner Spackman ; (stroke), Lewis Morrell, Mathew Bennett and Harry Alom to a win (Coached by Glen Reichardt)
and the WHHS coxed four crew of Conner Spackman; (stroke), Mathew Bennett, Stephen Wright, Lewis Morrell to second(coached by Glen Reichardt.) .

Hamish Schnuriger , from John Paul College, had a second with the Novice Coxed Quad crew of Laurence Lickfold;RBHS(stroke), Papataitua Harrington; RLHS, Taylor Boyce; JPC, Zac Swift ; JPC (coached by Harry Ashby) and courageously urged the Novice Eight crew of Laurence Lickfold (RBHS ;stroke), Papataitua Harrington; RLHS, Taylor Boyce; JPC , Zac Swift; JPC ,Conner Spackman ; WHHS,Lewis Morrell; WHHS, Mathew Bennett; WHHS, Stephen Wright WHHS to place third (Coached by Harry Ashby).

The Novice Double Sculls of Laurence Lickfold; RBHS (stroke) and Harry Alom WHHS, coached by Harry Ashby came second
