Canada, NZ, Papua New Guinea, Australia -all at training this morning at Lake Rotorua .

You could be mistaken in thinking Rotorua Rowing Club was hosting the World Championships this morning. We had Nic Kerkham and John Jackson –the Papua New Guinean Lightweight pair manning a ‘teenie’ (that’s coach boat for you kiwis ). There was Will Liley from Mosman, Australia doing an Erg to keep in his training for the ‘Head of the Yarra’ on the 26th of this month. There were 2 Canadian Dads going for a row in a double who are  here in New Zealand to watch one of their daughter’s  Emma Darling row bow seat in the Canadian Women’s Eight in the 2010 NZ World Rowing Champs. She sounds like a really sweetie….Here’s what she said after her 2010 Lucerne world cup Silver ;

Emma Darling (CAN) – Silver
“I’m happy about the race. We had a very quick start. At the end we had to stick together to keep through.  Winning Henley gave us power. We trained on speed before the racing and we will go on with that to make it perfect.  It’s my first time in Lucerne. It’s also a good place for my family who came with me.”
