Mangakino Camp…

Glen Reichardt CLUB PRESIDENTWe had a very successful camp last weekend and I must thank all the rowers for their behaviour and participation in all activities at camp. We have a great team of rowers and it was great to see the interaction at all levels although it did get a bit noisy in the dining room at times. Thanks to Erin and her happy helpers in the kitchen and to those who supplied food for the camp. This enables us to keep the cost down and ensures that the workload in the kitchen is not too high as all the food is precooked.”                                                                                                                                                                            Alastair Riddle HEAD COACH A very good camp at Mangakino last weekend and it had a good feel to it – everyone doing their thing and working well together, great work from Coaches and Parents.Rowers worked hard and we are starting to see some results from the winter training. We had three rows each day, ate large quantities of carbohydrates, and finished up with an hours short races which was enjoyed by rowers and spectators. All the novices now know how to back in to the boat holders, how to use ropes to stay lined up in a side wind and have had their first lessons in racing starts, and doing those in anger. Very entertaining, some room for improvement, but good practice for when you line up at Karapiro in front of a real and probably grumpier starter.
