Challenge Shield.—
The secretary of the Rotorua carnival has received a letter intimating that Messrs John Dewar and Sons Limited, of Perth and London, have contributed a handsome silver challenge shield for competition at the Rotorua Carnival Regatta.
The shield is to be competed for by maiden oarsmen, in four-oared outrigged gigs, as defined by the rules for the time being of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, in a race of one mile.
It is to be rowed for annually at the Rotorua carnival, under the rules of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association.
The shield has been accepted by the Carnival Committee, and Messrs Nathan and Co. have been asked to thank Messrs Dewar and Sons for their gift.
