Rotorua has contenders for both the prestigious Boys and Girls U18 Single Sculls ....

In all Rotorua has 8 crews racing for medals at the AON 2011 New Zealand Secondary School Rowing Champs (AON Maadi Cup), at Lake Karapiro, over the weekend.

Coach Alastair Riddle will be wishing his 3 crews well. Riordan Morrell (WHHS) will compete in the Boys Under 18 single sculls  andRiordan Morrell (WHHS)  and Hugh Spiers (WHHS)  will race in the A Final of the Boys Under 18 Double Sculls .

Rotorua Rowing Club’s Head Coach Riddle’s 3^rd crew; Callum Taft (stroke) (JPC ) , Jakob Zohs (JPC ) will compete  in the Boys Under 18 Lightweight Double Sculls.

Coach Rob Francis will be watching his singles sculler Claudia Hyde, race for a medal in the Girls Under 18 event. 30 single scullers raced in 4 semi finals and Claudia took a first place and is looking good for a medal.

Coach Chris Pearson has 2 crews competing in the Girls Under 15 Coxed Quad; WHHS crew; Stacey Tamblin (stroke), Emma Cronshaw-Hunt , Hannah Cox , Alice West and cox; Morgan McHale ,and JPC crew; Olivia Ashby (stroke), Grace Eriksen , Georgina Hyde, Angela O'Sullivan and cox; Willow Sperry . the WHHS crew won their heat and goes straight to A Final. The JPC crew competed in 4 semi finals comprising of 32 crews in all, and came 2^nd and now will go into the A Final.Coach Pearson has a JPC crew in the Girls Under 15 Double sculls too; Olivia Ashby (stroke)and Grace Eriksen.

Coach EJ Reichardt has her crew- Daniel Cronshaw-Hunt and Sam West competing in the Novice Under 18 Double Sculls.
