New Programme of Events at NZSSRA Championships regattas

Friday, 23 July 2010 12:26 p.m.

School rowing now has an expanded and re-ordered Programme of Events for conducting Championships regattas. The new Programme of Events is the outcome of the four-yearly review by the Executive Committee. Championships regattas will use the new programme from 2011 until next reviewed (after the 2014 season).

The Programme of Events has been updated on the NZSSRA website:

www.schoolrowing.org.nz. It incorporates three new boat classes and a complete re-working of the order of events. The new boat classes are:

 1. under-16 single sculls

 2. under-18 novice double sculls

 3. under-18 lightweight double sculls

Previous reviews slotted new events into the existing programme (2002:U15 2X, 1998: U19 2-) but with at least 10 of 48 events added since that earliest programme was compiled it was no longer optimal. Events were re-ordered to better spread out age-groups and boat types.

The changes come after extensive consultation with Members and the school rowing community. Response throughout the review process has been helpful, encouraging and positive. The Executive Committee thanks everybody who took the time to contribute to the review.

sincerely

 Andrew Carr-Smith, Executive Officer, NZSSRA
