NIGEL VAN DEN AKKER UPDATE

Hi all

Trainings going reall well but very hard. Home exercises every morning  is a work out before you even get on the water. 22km to the bridge and  back are slowly becoming the norm now with races against the u23  eight, fours and elite doubles. This is really good as it really  forces you to push yourself. This afternoon we got back from school  had weight training and core exercises at the high performance centre.  We then went off for a row and finished off with some nice hill sprints so am a bit tired now. After dinner we had a talk with Simon the CEO of rowing New Zealand, so we got to ask a few questions about  the world champs and what happening in the future with rowing in NZ. This was really interesting. Our next time trial tomorrow with a 8km  race from the bridge. We have a staggered start so we should finish

around the same time as everyone else which really pushes you to go  harder. We are playing paintball on Sunday with all the junior crew  and coaches so I think a little pay back for all those hard trainings is in order.

We that's all for now.

Nigel
